Rani Padmavati (aka Padmini) is said to be one of the most beautiful women to ever exist. This real life story is epitome of Love and sacrifice between Rajput Queen Padmavati and Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, the Rajput ruler of Mewar. Their perfect life took unfortunate turn when Allauddin Khilji’s lustful eyes gazed upon Queen Padmavati. Alauddin Khilji is known as one of the most brutal rulers of the Khilji dynasty, who ascended the throne by killing his father-in-law, his brother-in-laws and their uncles.
We can’t get away from this, the question for us while watching this fresh version of the oldest tale in the book – ‘ek tha raja, ek thi rani, dono mar gaye, khatam kahani’—is, how do we deal with the fact of a woman being forced to jump into a pyre to save the ‘honour’ of her husband, and her people?
Of course, Padmaavat is spectacular: no one can do spectacle like Bhansali. This was what he was born to do. You can easily delight in it while the going is good. But nearly three hours of it, and looping rhetoric around what constitutes Rajput valour can and does become tiresome. And that compulsion to make ‘sati’ so good-looking, when the singeing of flesh can be so gruesome, is troubling.
If there’s one thing that keeps us from brooding too much through the film, it is Ranveer Singh. Not once does he try to make us like him, and that makes us like him even more. As a performer, his chief asset has been his unpredictability, in a good way. As Bhansali’s scarred, manically-over-the-top Khilji, he is electric. And try as anyone might, so is the attraction between the galloping outsider and the lovely queen: it is their doomed love story, whose embers rain on the screen, that we take away with us.

Race 3 is a 2018 Indian action thriller film directed by Remo D’Souza and produced under Tips Films and Salman Khan Films. The film features Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem and Freddy Daruwala. It is the third installment of Race film series. The film released on 15 June 2018 coinciding with Eid.
Race 3 Story:
The Singh family comprises of Shamsher (Anil Kapoor) his step-son Sikandar (Salman Khan), twins Suraj (Saqib Saleem) and Sanjana (Daisy Shah). They run a business of illegal arms and trade with the help of their friend Yash (Bobby Deol). Things get dramatic when Jessica (Jacqueline Fernandez) meets Sikandar and the family ties are strained under each character’s ulterior motives.
Race 3 Review: The Race franchise is known for its excessively stylized characters and high-octane action. These films showcase expensive cars and fancy set pieces, they have everything to please the an action movie buff and James Bond fans. ‘Race 3’ puts the pedal to the metal when it comes to making stylish statements. But as it zooms ahead in style, the substance is left behind in a cloud of dust.
This film is about a rich family dealing with a lot of double crossing and scheming, as you’d expect from a film of this franchise. The Singh family is executing a high stake heist, where they have to steal a hard disk from a bank, so the setup looks like it’s going to have a lot of thrills and action. But the generous dose of action never translates into any serious thrills because the story is so flimsy. To say that the film has a wafer thin plot is an understatement. Unlike the action, the script lacks any real punch as the story does not engage the viewer at all. Trailer of the film had sparked off a bevy of memes on social media and when you watch the film you realise there are more such dialogues like, ‘Our business is our business, none of your business’ and that makes you wonder what the writers were thinking.
What redeems the tissue-thin plot is the larger-than-life action sequences. You have it all – car crashes, explosions, combats, cat-fights and wingsuit diving stunts. Yes, there’s lot of smoke and fire, but no real steam – in the story or the performances. Most of the action scenes are in slo-mo, meant to heighten the drama and thrill obviously, but it often ends up making the scene a tedious watch. The best directed parts of the film are the songs, which look like elaborately designed music videos. The movie is mounted on a lavish canvas, and shot on some beautiful locales, but none of that holds your attention for more than a few minutes. It’s a visual delight to see a range of super cars in action, glamorous girls throwing kicks and punches, and of course, fans will relish the sight of Salman Khan and Bobby Deol ripping their shirts off to flaunt their well-greased and chiseled bodies.

Lust Stories Storyline:
Lust Stories is the sequel to 2013 movie Bombay Talkies presenting four short films by four of India’s biggest directors exploring love, sex and relationships in modern India. Read the review for details.
Lust Stories Review:
Kashyap’s film is about possessiveness. A woman stretches languorously in the backseat of a car, upholstered in a shiny dress as she listens to the songs of Mohammad Rafi. She appears unbearably patronising to the young man she is accompanying – even though it is understandable to judge a man with the collected works of Chetan Bhagat on his bookshelf – till we see she is his teacher at college. It all adds up, slowly.
Banerjee’s film is about fidelity. A man sits on a beach in white shorts, with a white kerchief to protect those very shorts. A still-stunning woman walks out of the water cinematically and asks how she’s looking. ‘Like a mother of two,’ he replies, and they laugh. She asks why he never learnt to swim, and he says it’s because his father wasn’t a member of the Gymkhana. Later, she considers herself and says she isn’t that overweight, to which he parries, “As compared to?” It is an easy, mature, finely aged relationship, free of the torridness we associate with an affair. These people, it is clear, know each other.
Johar’s film is about loving yourself. This one is a broader comedy featuring a buxom librarian and a silly principal who believes Nabokov meant to write ‘lions’ when his narrator called Lolita the fire of his loins, but there is a tenderness and a sense of purpose that makes it special. A shy young bride, having considered her entire life right upto the wedding-night as foreplay, quickly tires of the five-second intercourse her husband loves so much.
Akhtar’s film is the finest. It is about longing, about boundaries, about all that remains unspoken, and about love itself. It starts with sounds of sex and, step by step, we see the characters and learn that she is the maid and he is the single man renting the flat. It is a minimal, beautiful film with Akhtar gradually and lovingly fetishising the very act of cleaning a house even as the maid begins to grow wistful.

Avengers: Infinity War Story:
As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
Avengers: Infinity War Review:
This is not a spoiler: “Avengers: Infinity War” contains the most dramatic cliffhanger of any major blockbuster since “The Empire Strikes Back,” and everything leading up to it is a marathon. After 18 movies and 10 years of Marvel superheroes battling through overlapping plots, sibling directors Anthony and Joe Russo unite nearly every single character for a series of epic showdowns and one giant, universe-shattering threat. It’s a lot more cohesive than “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and the sprawling, busy ensemble often feels like every Marvel movie engaged in overlapping conversation, like a slow-zoom from the Robert Altman playbook laced with CGI. As a virtuoso juggling act, “Infinity War” has no real parallel in popular culture; as a movie, it’s an impressive montage of greatest hits until the gut punch of a finale.
Richie Review: ‘Who IS Richie?’ That’s the quest on which a journalist (Shraddha Srinath) embarks on, to find out the real virtue of the man who is different things to different people. Kaka Peter (Kumaravel) sees Richie (Nivin Pauly) as a hireling of gangster Isaac Annachi, (GK Reddy, whose snow-white fake beard makes him seem like Santa), at whose hands he almost met his death. But for Murugesh (Aadukalam Murugadoss), he is the friend who treated him with compassion. As for Richie’s father, Sagayam (Prakash Raj), a reverend, he is someone who is beyond redemption. And Raghu (Raj Bharath), who was once a friend, sees him as someone who dashes his plans.
A remake of the Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Richie is built around characters who are victims of their circumstances. Richie is unable to overcome the fact that both his friend and father deserted him in his hour of need. Raghu is more concerned about his own safety and future, having run away from gang with a treasure — an invaluable statue. And that makes his mother, Radha (Thulasi), who pines for her long-lost son, a victim as well. Peter, on the other hand, has to face the reaction that comes him way following his action of ignoring Isaac Annachi. Meanwhile, Selvam (Natty) has come to the place to forget the ghost of his past, and his actions there are defined by his attraction to Peter’s sister Philomina (Lakshmi Priyaa).

Together, they hatch a plan to rig Velu’s next fight with Victor, the city’s top underground
Pandigai Review: A unique backdrop — underground street fighting — and filmmaking chutzpah make Pandigai, a tense action film, an exciting watch. The film embraces its violent setting and doesn’t short-change us when it comes to the stunts and the blood-letting. The writing, too, complements the filmmaking, giving us characters to root for and to be wary of.
Velu (Kreshna), who works in a hotel, wants to go abroad, but to earn the money needed for it, agrees to take part in underground street fights on the advice of Muni (Saravanan), a gambler, who thinks that his fighting skills could help him reclaim the house he has lost by betting on a cricket match. The racket is controlled by Natwar Dada (Madhusudhanan), a terrifying gangster, and his crew. Muni feels that they can make the bucks if Velu loses to Dada’s man and the top fighter, Victor (Arjai) during their clash. But something unexpected happens, and now, Muni ends up losing his shop to Feeling Suresh (Aruldoss), a ruthless moneylender. And when they become aware of foul play at the racket, they decide to rob Dada.
